A lot of people ask me what is my wedding photography style and more often than not I can not provide a definitive answer. I shoot in a variety of styles while trying to be as unobtrusive as possible on your wedding day.
Besides the morning preparations and the “artsy” session after the ceremony, if you opt for one, you will barely notice me or my second photographer during the wedding. This approach really helps me capture precious moments and genuine emotions, relaxes you and the guest and the whole photography experience.
I heard a saying early in my career that a wedding shouldn’t be an all consuming photoshoot with a wedding attached to it.
It is your day and you should enjoy it fully with minimal interruptions for posed photos. That doesn’t mean we won’t do some art photos of the two of you after the ceremony, but I promise – it’ll be quick and painless. Or we can skip it altogether – complete freedom!
I never have a “list of shots” to go by so every wedding I photographer is one of a kind!
Shoot me an email and let’s chat about your unique wedding plans!
Frequently Asked Questions
How many pictures do we get?
There is certainly no limit on the pictures you get from your wedding. I typically deliver in the upwards of 500 photos from a full day wedding. Sometimes way more than that but it all depends on the weather, number of guests and so many factors that are different for each wedding.
Where are you based?
I live right outside Liverpool – Runcorn, but I am available for weddings in Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester areas. I also frequently travel to London, the rest of the UK and abroad.
How long have you been a wedding photographer?
I started shooting models for a hobby in 2008 and photographed my first wedding in 2009 in US. In 2010 I dropped everything and became a full time wedding photographer. I’ve been shooting weddings for over 6 years now.
How soon after the wedding will I receive the photos?
Usually the photos are ready about a month after the wedding, but it might take up to six weeks in the busy summer months. You will receive a few sneak peeks of some of the best shots within two weeks after the wedding.
Can we print on our own?
Yes, you certainly can. The photos that you will receive are high resolution colour corrected images ready for print. They don’t bear any logos or watermarks so you can print them anywhere you like. Sharing them on social media like Facebook or Instagram is absolutely fine but if you want to help marketing my business please tag me or share a link to my site or social media.
Can you come visit the venue with us before the wedding?
Yes, if needed. I don’t really have to visit it, especially if I photographed there before. There is little that can surprise me when it comes to lighting and decor and I always come prepared on your big day for for any situation.
If we can’t meet in person can we Skype or FaceTime?
Yes, definitely! It is a great alternative if you live far away and we can’t properly meet in person. It is a bit nerve-wrecking and awkward but it is definitely better than the phone!
How much is the booking retainer?
The holding retainer is £500 and it is needed to book and secure your date. The rest of the balance is due a month before the wedding.
Do you do traditional group shots?
Yes, I still do them and happy to offer them, however to avoid turning your wedding into a major photoshoot I recommend to limit the group shots to about 6 to 8 groups. It would be extremely helpful if you appoint the best man or an usher who knows most of the people in both families. They can help organise the groups and reduce the time of searching for people when you need them the most. It helps if they are loud as well!
What photographic equipment do you use?
I use full frame Canon DSLRs, mainly Canon 5D Mark III, with a number of fast L primes. Fast lenses help immensely in dark churches to avoid using flash and help you shoot comfortably in low light without distracting everyone with bright flashes. I always carry backup gear in case anything goes wrong. I even carry backups to my backup.
We are not models and we feel awkward in front of a camera. Can you help?
Definitely! 5 out of 6 couples tell me that when we meet and it is perfectly natural! That is where a good photographer is essential. It is my job to put you at easy in front of the camera. Most couples are amazed how easy it is take good pictures with a proper approach. It is very simple actually – I don’t pose you. I just set you up and live you on your own as I step away and shoot from a distance. It helps you relax and forget that I am there. You can be yourselves and relax in front of the camera!
We have a small, intimate wedding. Do we still have to book you for the full day?
Not necessarily. I am happy to shoot smaller weddings or even just the registry signing and a few portraits afterwards. Please contact me so we can discuss all the details!
Do we have to provide a meal for you?
That would be extremely nice of you! It is not a mandatory requirement but providing us with a hot meal helps us stay happy for the duration of the wedding. It also prevents me from eating that stale Snickers bar that has been sitting in my bag since last year. Talk to your caterers, they should be able to offer a discounted meals for your wedding vendors. It would be of great help if you decide to feed us to talk to the caterers to see if they can serve us with the guests so we can use the downtime when everyone is eating.
